About Me

Hello, my name is Claudia Wellman, and I am a Virginia-based creative professional excited to share my journey with you.

My passion for creative media began in middle school when I enrolled in photography classes. Throughout high school, I continued developing my skills through both digital and film photography courses. While I initially focused on creative portrait photography, I sought to broaden my experience by approaching my school's athletic department during my senior year to explore sports photography. That decision sparked a passion for capturing the energy, emotion, and storytelling found in sports.

During my freshman and junior years of college, I worked with ESPN+ as a camera operator, contributing to the live broadcasts of numerous athletic events. I ultimately chose to focus my efforts on athletics and communications internships, as they aligned more closely with my long-term career goals. During this time, I also gained hands-on experience managing social media accounts for student organizations, further developing my skills.

The summer before my sophomore year, I reached out to Longwood Athletics Communications to pursue opportunities in photography and social media content creation. This initiative led to my first internship with the department and eventually to four internships throughout my college career. These experiences allowed me to grow both professionally and creatively while contributing to the storytelling and promotion of Longwood Athletics. The opportunities and experience I gained ultimately enabled me to graduate a year early.

In May 2025, I earned my Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Longwood University. During my graduate studies, I served as the Director of Creative Content for Longwood Women's Basketball through a graduate assistantship. In this role, I significantly expanded my portfolio while gaining hands-on experience in sports media, branding, content creation, and analytics.

Following my graduate assistantship, I was hired full-time as the Director of Creative Content for Longwood Women's Basketball. In this role, I led the program's creative strategy, producing photography, videography, graphic design, social media content, recruiting materials, and digital storytelling initiatives. Working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and staff, I helped elevate the program's brand while continuing to grow my expertise in sports media, content creation, analytics, and audience engagement.

These experiences have played a significant role in shaping my career as a creative professional, and I am excited to share my work and passion for visual storytelling, content creation, and athletics with you.

Testimonials

Alex Kersttetter

"Claudia for her age works at an exceptional and professional level beyond her years. Working in college athletics you have to adapt in unique ways to the always changing work schedule, and Claudia did so wonderfully. Her attention to detail and ability to capture photos were phenomenal and her turn around time was like a seasoned professional in the field. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a high level photographer with great attention to detail and excellent turn around time."

Clark Boinis

"Claudia has been a pleasure to work with this school year. She has been an excellent photographer for us, shooting games, practices, and other photoshoots. Claudia has an excellent attention to detail, whether it’s her photo taking/editing, organization, or communication skills in making sure everyone is on the same page. In addition, she has stepped into various roles as needed that might’ve been outside her areas of expertise and provided quality work on short notice."
